Eva Longoria in Tamara Ralph. ’25.
Fun fact: Tamara and I went to the same high school. From here, she’s infiltrated Hollywood, garnering cult-like status.
I remain a blog writer, however enthusiastic to celebrate Tamara.
Her traditional glamour twists uniquely, reflecting character in each woman she outfits Arguably, a powerful stance on femininity.
Eva, above, glistens in column custom, the seduction amped by corseted peekaboo sequins.
An oversized multi-colour necklace (it’s Cartier), injects approachability- giving arty, a willingness to subvert traditional sex symbol.
Playing into this is dusty pink – not only flattering Eva’s skin-type, but incredibly girl-next-door.
The look overall- a natural seductress on display, embracing her multifaceted being.

Proof is in the pudding- Alexander McQueen is known for tailoring. This modern, cropped pant suit is sublime in fluid, flattering fit.
Nowhere near as theatrical as traditional McQueen, only the bust motif suggests characteristic turn-of-the-century Alexander. A nod, a recognition of the powerhouse, without full embodiment.
But who fully walked the designer’s look- oh, only Lila’s mum, Kate. In this way, the look evokes Kate era McQueen- the glamour, the self-destruction, hope and the void.
Consequently, this casual McQueen turn, while ready-to-wear, hints at trouble. With the fit of a dream.

Sophia Loren attributed her success to spaghetti. Gluten intolerant, I’m one step behind la Loren, if I even run the same race.
Definitely not in this Balmain.
1. Can’t afford 2. Luxury with modern edge, as is Balmain ubiquity, requires ranking pre-existing glamour to wear well. Think confident-sexy.
Sophia melts into this lingerie, thanks to her celebrated Curves. She envelops the clothing as much as it fits her; nothing try-hard here, as underwear dressing, often a cheap shot at sex, can be.
Bleeding into Balmain’s glamour is that white maxi- brimmed hat, matched to milky gloves: elegance, distinguished from otherwise black corsetry and suspenders as attached. Such structured and overt wear permits Balmain’s codifying modernity.
Bonus: Loren’s elegance oomphs into opulence by strategically placed flowers and pearls. Overall, a look which plays perfectly into Balmain’s codes, for natural but distinctly Hollywood glam.
